Racehorses in Training

There are currently 37 horses in training at Hellwood, including eight 2 year olds, two by Captain Rio. Having stayed faithful to Captain Rio, 4 of last year's 2yo were amongst his first crop of runners in 2007 and Richard is very excited about seeing more of them on the track. "If any of Rio's progeny are half as good as he was, I will be delighted. Captain Rio was second in the first season sires list last year" says Whitaker.

"Mey Blossom showed a lot of promise last year winning and being placed, and is owned by Waz Developments".

Most of the horses at Hellwood are Flat horses, but there are one or two dual purpose horses hurdling too, including Just Waz, Airedale Lad and Bold Diktator. In fact, the Whitaker's had a horse qualified for the Grand National years ago, but unfortunately, due to an injury, he never got to run at Aintree.
